Comparative & International Education III
With the global expansion and development of studying abroad and international exchange, how to recognise and evaluate diverse academic backgrounds, learning experiences, and educational qualifications, and how to confirm individual academic abilities and skills, etc., has become a challenge for university admissions in various countries. I have been mainly engaged in research on systems and policies surrounding high school-university articulation and the accreditation, recognition and evaluation of international educational qualifications (such as the International Baccalaureate) in the UK, and more recently I have been conducting international comparative research on fairness and equity in entrance examinations in Japan and abroad, and on inquiry-based learning practices and assessment in high schools. In my seminar, we study comparative pedagogical methodologies, comparative pedagogical approaches to educational issues in the global age, and international high school-university articulation, based on each student’s own interests, as well as participate in international conferences, research collaborations with other universities, and study groups at summer camps and other events.
