About Further Education

Graduate School
Graduate School of Human Environmental Studies
http://www.hues.kyushu-u.ac.jp/

What is important for us now is not to separate human beings and the environment as we have done in the past, but to view them as integral parts of the “human environment,” and to explore ways to improve their coexistence. Based on this social background and philosophy, the Graduate School of Human Environmental Studies has developed a new interdisciplinary academic field to explore the optimal environment for humans, and the direction for its growth. It is a graduate school for research and education from anthropological, pedagogical, psycho-clinical, sociocultural, health science, and engineering perspectives. The Graduate School of Human Environmental Studies consists of the following majors (courses). The Graduate School accepts 95 Master’s Degree students, 40 Doctoral Degree students, and 30 Professional Degree students every academic year. A wide range of courses are offered, from urban policy to the inner world of human beings, and students are expected to study a range of subjects from engineering technology to humanities-based soft sciences, as well as specialized fields.
